Let’s Touch Base

Recent meetings at work are titled…let’s touch base. I suppose only because of yet another re-org, restructure, and re-re et all. Which gets me thinking on days where I feel off, that if it is still worth the fight? To stay focused, see the bigger picture, and all things that drives one to aim for the ultimate success in their career. Until…that part of life, trumps all others and you realize on the seventh day of December, that you haven’t made an effort to decorate the house, nor focus on the upcoming holiday. Then you look around, and think, perhaps the joy of the holiday season is no longer the way it once was. And that we are all simply going through the motion of making Christmas happen. Am I alone in this thinking? And…forgive me for sounding downbeat…but I do wonder if we will ever get back the true spirit of Christmas? What are you thoughts?

Why Treating Yourself Is A Wonderful Idea

I haven’t shopped much this year, thinking I already have all that I need in my efforts to downsize and live a simpler life. But, sometimes, one has to simply treat themselves to the smallest of things, to elevate the otherwise bleakest of emotions surfacing during this time of year. For that very reason, I did a bit of window shopping over the weekend, and without plan really ended up with these goodies. What have you treated yourself to recently?  {featured image source and inspiration for this post}

finding peace within yourself

I sometimes wonder, if, when I get together with people, they complain about how unhappy they are just to make conversation or they are truly unhappy. Because often times, after spending a few hours listening to their stories, concerns, worries, fears and what nots repeatedly, I walk away thinking, why don’t you make a change? Is it that hard to make a change or is it harder to accept your life as it is and just live it to the fullest? What drives us to be who we are and how come some people take the initiative to make their lives better for themselves and others don’t? Come to think of it, is everyone the same and some just know how to cope better? Any thoughts?

what i wish for the new year 2013

Every year, most of us, partake in making  some sort of a new year’s resolution and although some actually carry it out in the following year, other’s drop the ball almost immediately. Either way, it’s a good way to look  forward to the new year and new opportunities.   This year, while I debated my own personal new year’s resolution, I decided  one of them to be  a universal wish list for 2013 and here it is: 1. I wish parents would stop fiddling with their cell phones while being around their children. Whether it be across a dinner table, or in a park or at a mall, parents need to set a good example for  their children and it should start with putting their cell phones down while with them. 2. I wish more people would stop, if only once a week, and take the time to smell the flowers. I guarantee this exercise will give each person the opportunity to reflect on what is important in life and how to reprioratize to  sift out …

getting what you want out of life and having the belief that it can happen

While I often ponder over the why’s and why nots of life, like most of us do at one point or another, I coinsidentally came across something here, which not only made me think, but also made me smile.  So, I decided to share the infomration  with as many people as I possibly can, since it is something I truly believe and occassionally lack the patience to see it when it’s right there in front of me. Do you do the same? You Are What You Think 4 steps to creating your perfect world using the power of thought   According to neuroscience studies, the adage that you should “be careful what you ask for” has more teeth to it than you might imagine. Your brain is very good at attending to whatever you direct it to. It’s kind of like when you go to buy a car and you think you’re the only person in the world who will have that shiny, bright purple VW Bug; then you drive it off the lot, and …

give me a moment to feel this way

I think I am at a point in my life where I don’t feel so bad because I have to go to work, nor do I look so forward to the weekend. I normally understand my place in  society and go about doing all the things I need to do and want to do. But there are times I do imagine the following: {Quote by Manya: Author of http://www.rawsilkandsaffron.wordpress.com}

inspiring thoughts to live by – part three

Women over forty spend alot of time pep talking themselves just to endure their daily life. This is not to say anyone under 40 doesn’t feel the need to do the same, it’s just that when over 40, the pep talks become part of a daily ritual. With that said, some women require a visual reminder of what to focus on while others seek therapy one way or another to get them through. I, for one, understand my challenges and cope with them to the best of my ability and although I found blogging a great therapy, occasionally a good quote kicks me into gear. Hopefully, you get my point 🙂 and if not,  check out my favorite quotes from here.
