I often wonder how women choose their hair and makeup products? I mean I circle department stores and small chain stores to study women’s reactions while testing new products or reading the back of one they have heard about and even exchanging opinions at the counter with those who have tried it before, but really what makes a woman finally settle on a product and stick to it, thinking it is the best thing for them?
For example: I have used just about every makeup out there and tend to change the brand only when I sense the ingredients, which have been changed to “new and improved”, are no longer working for my face.
As for hair products, I have also tried just about every shampoo and hair color out there based on of course what my hair needs are during different seasons throughout the year, as well as the quality my hair has become over the years. One thing, I have found, so far is, although I veer on occasion to try something different, eventually I go right back to L’OREAL hair care products. It’s worked for my hair type (Wavy, thick hair), time and time again, no matter how much they have changed or improved their product. My favorite now is the L’OREAL Sulfate free hair care products and L’OREAL Excellence Creme hair color. Together, they make my hair feel and look ten years younger.
I am curious and would love to hear opinions from anyone on this subject matter. So please feel free to give us your input via the comments link.

While traveling through Paris (Which I will cover shortly), I cannot help but focus more on fashion then anything else and since this is fashion week in NYC, I decided to share my favorites from Christian Siriano Spring 2013 collection from here:

A woman who I have admired for a long time now, is of course a French fashion icon, Ines de la Fressange. I am not going to detail her bio on this blog entry, but will happily give you a link here so that you can use it to get some background about her.
The interesting thing is that, she became well known around the fashion world as a result of her connection to Chanel throughout most of her 20s. Anyway, she had written a book a while back titled, Parisian Chic, which I have picked up and read from cover to cover, just so I can truly understand Parisian women, their style, even more so than I already do, in order to satisfy my obsession with the French lifestyle, culture, and fashion.
Of course the book validates the fact my core makeup and way of thinking and living is French and I am very happy about that. The transition to living in France someday soon will be very easy for me.
So, check out the video here for a brief narrative of her book. Meanwhile here is the link if you are interested in buying or uploading her book.

Although no particular gown stood out at the Oscar 2011 red carpet last night, I must point out the fact how disappointed I am with some of the celebrity women over 40 and their choice in gown and overall appearance for such an elegant event. See for yourself.
Nicole Kidman - worst look list for Oscar 2011
Helena Bohman Carter - worst dressed for woman over 40

Designer shoes are not only inspirational but in essence have a way of making a woman feel sexy no matter how emotionally unstable she may be on the inside. (Ladies, I say that with love).
In light of this subject, I can honestly say I am not partial to any particular designer, I am however particular to the actual design and functionality of a shoe. So, here we go, first stop Valentino Shoes and since I seem to have trouble with choosing just a few pairs of the Valentino shoe collection for Spring 2011, I have decided to include some of my absolute favorites and offer you a link to the website here, just in case you want to go crazy.

Here is a topic I have been avoiding for a while, but since those annoying wrinkles are beginning to creep up on me, I am no longer able to avoid the problem at hand. However, finding the right wrinkle cream is probably the most frustrating thing I have experienced in the history of my shopping endeavors. I have visited every make up counter and spoken to dozens of make up consultants, I have surfed the net and read reviews on most any cream out there and yet, I am just not convinced any of them will help nor are worth the amount of money they cost.
What I did do however, is compile here and here some sites of the most highly recommended wrinkle creams out there and I would love to hear from anyone who has tried any of them and what you actually thought about it?

Although it may seem a bit early to think about Spring fashion, since most of us can’t seem to stay warm enough during this Winter season, in reality it is actually the perfect time. Well, maybe not from the consumers point of view, but for sure from the retailers perspective.
So with that seed being planted in your minds, I have included some photos of the Spring 2011 collection from the various designers for your viewing pleasure. Check them out and tell me what you think?
Also, in the next few weeks I will be discussing the fashion trends in great detail, so stay tuned!

I know I have stated before, if all else fails, consider the color black in fashion. Believe me a woman over 40 can seldom go wrong with the choice of color, because no matter how self-conscious she may feel about her figure, black has a way of smoothing out the edges.
However, choosing age appropriate black dresses or gowns is very important for the woman over 40 because, selecting the wrong cut, length or style , can surely be the most damaging.
Since choosing the dress or gown is a hit or miss in some or most cases, I have included one of my favorite designer’s website here to help guide the process. I have also included some of my favorite selections (below) from the site to consider or duplicate (depending on one’s budget) for that special soiree. Enjoy and let me know what is your favorite gown from the selection.

Now here is another topic I have difficulty incorporating into my everyday life and conversation – haute couture – best described by fashionera.com as being a French phrase for high fashion. Couture means dressmaking, sewing, or needlework and haute means elegant or high, so the two combined imply excellent artistry with the fashioning of garments. The purchase of a haute couture model garment is at the top level of hand customised fashion design and clothing construction made by a couture design house. A model haute couture garment is made specifically for the wearer’s measurements and body stance. The made to measure exclusive clothes are virtually made by hand, carefully interlined, stay taped and fitted to perfection for each client.
A haute couture could cost anywhere from 20K to whatever the price may be for the exclusively created masterpieces by the best of the best fashion designers. I have included a slideshow of some of the most interesting of styles for 2010 from the likes of Christian Dior, J. Galliano, Chanel, John Paul Gultier and more. Enjoy!
