travel: – oahu, hawaii – day 1

I haven’t been to Hawaii for ten years. I think ever since I decided to stop sun tanning aggressively. I figured if I stayed away, I wouldn’t be tempted to lay in the sun for hours on end. The funny thing is, maybe the universe knew I was not going to sunbathe again this time around, so it’s been raining, cold and cloudy from day one, forcing me to stay mostly inside my hotel room. The wedding isn’t until Friday, with a few pre-parties scheduled two days before hand, so I could pretty much do what I want until Wednesday. The only thing I did forget was what day and time it was, so I also forgot to post anything: on my blog :)

Anyway, here are some photos I took, of course with my i-phone, since I also forgot my camera, from Saturday night. Enjoy.

things that need a double take

Have you ever passed by something which caught your interest and then took another look, but this time in utter admiration or appreciation or longing? Where here’s what will do for it for

inspired by nostalgia

Photographs are probably the most inspirational medium known to mankind to and often times a great way to reflect, reminisce and remind. With that said, occasionally, I find photographs online, which touch me to a point; I have to share them with anyone who understands where I am coming from.

Pictures do tell a thousand words and here are mine.

san francisco gem: the ferry building

I love it when friends show up in town unannounced and beg to spend a day with you.  I really mean it, I do love it, even though it throws me pleasantly off schedule (If that makes sense).

Anyway, I got the word my friends were in town at ten in the morning and asked them to meet me at the end of Market Street at noon for lunch.  When I asked, what they wanted to eat, they mentioned Sandwich shops and fast food and I basically rolled my eyes.

I pointed to the Ferry Building and asked if they had been there and they both shook their heads NO and so we ventured into one of our proudest conversion of a historic building into an amazing waterfront hangout.

kitchen concepts from ikea

Over the weekend I walked into Ikea in search of a new kitchen design to build outside of my now permanent studio home. While I often times dream of white kitchens, I couldn’t help but fall inlove with some not typically my style, making it difficult to choose from. I can tell this is going to be a long drawn out process :)

nostalgic for picture perfect winter

Since I live in San Francisco  and seldom go up to Lake Tahoe, I have to say I am nostalgic for what I creatively refer to as picture perfect winter days. You know the kind that looks amazing in photos but not so amazing when you live through it.  That kind and just incase you don’t know what I am talking about, please see below :)

photography: light effects in san francisco

The past three days, it was extremely hot in San Francisco and although it was a pleasant change from the cold and fog, it aggravated alot of locals.  Very strange bunch, we are, the city folk.

I, on the other hand, did everything in my power to stay out as long as I could to enjoy the sun and the heat, so after work I walked over to Union Square and enjoyed a nice dinner outdoors atop Macy Department Store, over-looking the  square. When I finally made it back down to the street level, I couldn’t believe how amazingly hot it still was even at 8p.m. So, naturally I grabbed  my hubby’s cell  and snapped some photos of the light effects in San Francisco on a hot Indian Summer night.

sex appeal in photography

Crazy as this may sound, when we finally get the Indian Summer in San Francisco, I cannot help but think of happy thoughts and I know I am not alone. So while I am in that frame of mine, I turn to what I call sexy appeal in photography to stay inspired while I am indoors :)

autumn in the air – what to look forward to

When you live in a city like San Francisco, it’s really difficult to tell when the seasons change. Unless of course you are completely in-tuned with nature. Either way,  Autumn has become one of my favorite seasons and one that I look forward to, almost secretly.

Autumn is an inspiring season for many reasons:

fashionable, warm, colorful sweaters and fun patterns

first chance to cuddle underneath a throw blankets on a chilly evening

best time of the year to bake warm apple tarts

enjoy a hot cup of english breakfast tea with a hint of cinnamon

the most picturesque walks to refuel one’s  soul

fashion week – nyc 2013 – christian siriano

While traveling through Paris (Which I will cover shortly), I cannot help but focus more on fashion then anything else and since this is fashion week in NYC, I decided to share my favorites from Christian Siriano Spring 2013 collection from here:
