fashion: free people and the woman over 40

There are fashion trends and wardrobe suggestions, which I, being a woman over 40, wish I could wear and while I second guess myself about whether the pieces are age appropriate, I do, on occasion, give into the temptation. I mean why not, if it looks good, wear it.  Here’s my latest loves from Free People and yes ladies, they are age appropriate:

FP High Rise Skinny,  Quilted Leather Jacket, Tristo Leather Tote,  Solitaire Heel, We The Free Ragtime Raglan-top

new year’s eve 2012 comfortable fashion ensemble

Two things dictated how I wanted to dress for New Year’s Eve this year. Top priority was comfort and the second,  dressy but casual. So I opted for pants, then a simple sequined top, followed by strappy shoes which would give me enough support to last throughout the night and a simple pair of earings to  accessorize. As for the coat, I love fur, faux that is and since this year faux fur is in, I decided to incorporated it into my ensemble from here.

a pair of jeans and a closet full of designer shoes

There is something to be said about a great fitting  pair of jeans, a gray t-shirt and a pair of the sexiest designer shoes.  It’s funny how far accessorizing a simple pair of blue jeans has come,  and because of that I have included my favorite selection of designer shoes to compliment my collection of jeans.  Well, of course I had to throw in my favorite bag  as well :) which I plan to duplicate.

How Will This Look On Me?

Sometimes when we put an outfit together, we cannot visualize how it would really look. I know this because sometimes when I see a few pieces suggested together in a magazine or a print ad, I wonder how that would really look as an ensemble. So for that, I have added a few items of clothing from here - first separately for the optimist and the pessimist in me and other women as well, and then the final result just incase the negative  trait over rules the positive from a visual point of view.

What Do You Think?

fall fashion 2011: black ankle boots

Since finding a nice pair of full length, wide calf boots is really challenging, I have, over the years, grown to appreciate ankle boots even more.  Sure, I walk past the full length boots and feel envious of those who can quickly zip them up, even while stuffing a pair of skinny jeans into them, I  soon forget my woes, when I see that perfect pair of ankle boots to call my very own.

The best part is, this year, ankle boots are in and highly suggested to pair with almost any outfit.  Finally!!!  Anyway, check out some of my favorites from here and tell me what you think?

holiday 2010 gift ideas for her – designer scarf

Part of making an impression  while giving a woman a holiday gift is the box it comes in. Although gifts from some department stores are expected and pretty predictable from a woman’s point of view, there is nothing like catching her off guard with a box  from a store she would never consider shopping at, much less buy from, especially for herself.

One sure way to show the care taken in selecting  a well thought out gift,  (outside of jewelry)  is giving her a designer scarf.

Most women tend to buy the most practical and durable  scarf for themselves while they run about town handling business.,  but they will surely appreciate a more glamorous one while on a date night or a  special occasion.

So, gentlemen and ladies alike, consider some suggestions I have included below when shopping for a scarf and remember, where you purchase the designer scarf is as important as choosing just  the right one.

christmas gift ideas for her – casual outfits

I think men have it tougher than women, while choosing the right gift for the woman in their lives.  This is not because they don’t buy what she wishes for, such as a sweater, a blouse or a pair of jeans and some fun boots, but it’s because they have a tough time choosing age appropriate outfits  for their (sometimes) self-conscious woman over 40.

So for that reason I have compiled some safe pieces to consider while shopping for the casual look most women over 40 crave, without sacrificing style and elegance.

Outfit 1: click here to find the details. Keep in mind although the jeans suggested is a pair of skinny jeans, you can actually replace those with a pair of boot cut or others to consider here and opt out of buying the boots. Although the look is age appropriate, it has a  touch of youthfulness and fun to it which most women over 40 appreciate and can support.

Outfit 2: click here to find the details. Again, the look is age appropriate with a bit of sexy yet classy. Once again, skinny jeans can be replaced for this look. A boot cut would do just fine as well.

Outfit 3:  click here, here and here for details. This particular outfit can also be paired with different jeans and boot styles. I just love the idea of wearing jeans with sweaters and flat boots.

Now just in case you have trouble reaching the links, my inspiration outfits are found on Eddie Bauer, Banana Republic and Ann Taylor websites. Enjoy!!!
